WFUNA Youth Seminar in Kuala Lumpur
The 5th WFUNA Youth Seminar was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 30th November, to 3rd December, 2016 hosted by the United Nations Association of Malaysia. It was well attended by Youth participants from the WFUNA Youth Network, namely the United Nations Associations and the United Nations Youth Associations from around the world. This Youth Seminar focused on Sustainable Development Goal 16 and the youth participants were given an opportunity to participate in workshops on project management and social media management. It included capacity building to support, monitor and evaluate the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 16, at national level.
On the invitation from the United Nations Association of Malaysia, HRH Prince Dato Seri Ambassador, Deshakeerthi Dr. M.M.M. Rushanudeen, JPWI, Deputy Executive Chairman of the United Nations Association of Sri Lanka, participated in the inauguration of the Youth Seminar, representing the UNA Sri Lanka. He was accompanied by Mr. A.A. Irshad Ahamed the UNASL representative for Malaysia, Singapore & Indonesia. The two member delegation had talks on strengthening ties between each other and on other matters of mutual interest, with officials of WFUNA and UNA Malaysia. They also exchanged mementos. They further had the opportunity of meeting the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Malaysia His Excellency Ansar Ibrahim and the Director of Matrade of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia.
